Electrical Engineering

Program Overview

Electrical engineering is the branch of engineering that focuses on power, electronics and communications. Electrical engineers work on everything related to electronics, designing and refining semiconductor devices, embedded systems, power generation, wireless communications, machine control, and more.

"糖心短视频app鈥檚 engineering program has exposed me to all sorts of possibilities, while simultaneously helping me form a concrete understanding of engineering basics."

Daniel D'Agostini '19, Electrical Engineering major

Designing and developing electrical equipment, electrical engineers are among the most diverse and dynamic contributors to our technological advancements. The field is relatively new, and began with the creation of basic batteries and charging techniques. Modern discoveries have pushed the field of electrical engineering to result complex devices and systems, like electric machines, integrated circuits, embedded systems and more.

By combining basic science and mathematics with advanced knowledge of semiconductors, analog and digital electronic circuit design, optical devices, image and signal processing, communications, control systems, photonics, computer architecture, computer-aided design (CAD), today’s electrically powered modern world is possible.

"Engineering impacts our daily lives, from cell phones to computers. These wonderful little machines are all around us, and they represent electrical and computer engineering in action."

Andrew Berger, Ph.D., Chair of the Physics & EngineeringDepartment

Featured In the , state-of-the-art classrooms, teaching laboratories, research spaces, faculty offices, and informal gathering spaces reflect the interactive nature of science and encourage active participation.
